This micro wind turbine can be used to help charge a battery bank that can be used to power an off-grid home.
The alternator used is three-phase permanent AC (AC) magnets.
It is then rectified to direct current (DC) which powers a battery charge controller.
The magnets rotate with the wind, the coils are fixed, so no brushes or slip rings are required.
Build magnetic disks
Cut the two 12 ″ steel discs to fit the magnets. Magnets 12 must be of type n50 and must be placed on the edge of the discs as shown in the figure. After this a form for resin placement should be created.
The distance between the magnets should be such that the coils that will be created in the next step touch both magnets simultaneously (you can see this in the figure that has a washer between 2 of the magnets).
Build the coils / windings
Wind the 9 coils and weld them in a three-phase configuration and fill with resin as shown in the figures. Use 35 turns of 2 cables in parallel for a 12 volt OUTPUT.
For a 24 VOL OUTPUT use only one cable laps only. The cable to be used is of 0.5 mm2 section with resin insulation.
Build bearing structure
Cut a piece of tube with great resistance, inside that tube put another one of smaller diameter and length. This second tube will support the 2 bearings in the main tube.
Build the shovels
You can use a wide pipe to construct the paddles about 10º curvature. Then construct the blade attachment structure to the rotor according to the images.
